The Division 5 team started out as the A2's in the Collegiate league back in 2004, and were the club's 5th men's side. The A2 league was made up of clubs with only a single team or for 3rd teams, and the Adelaide University's A2's struggled before finishing bottom of the table. In 2005, when the Adelaide University Soccer Clubs Blacks' collegiate teams moved to the SAASL run competitions, the A2's began to compete in the Division 4 competition. The SAASL division 4 competition much like the A2 Collgiate League competition is made up of clubs with single teams or 3rd teams for larger clubs. In 2008 the old division 4 became division 5 with SAASL planning on expanding the double league divisions to 4 for 2009. In 2009 the division 5 team will be run in conjunction with the newly formed division 4 team by Ben Hossack and Andrew Nunn and it the clubs 7th team in the SAASL competitions.
